was awarded with the Clean & Safe stamp issued by the Portuguese Tourism Authority, certifying our commitment in being compliant with strict cleaning protocols and disinfection measures.
Turismo de Portugal created early this year (2020) a stamp to distinguish businesses providing services to the travel industry, that comply with hygiene and desinfection requirements to prevent and control the spread of COVID-19, contributing to a safer travel approach within Portugal borders.


Hygiene & Safety Protocol
In order to prevent the spread of bacteria and mitigate further contamination of common used spaces with COVID-19, Drifter Beach Lodge set in motion a safety and hygiene protocol in compliance with the WHO (World Health Organisation) and DGS (Direção-Geral da Saúde) guidelines. All our collaborators and people involved in our operation have received formation and training, and are committed to strictly follow our internal policies, aiming the safety of our customers and coworkers.
Check-in & Check-out
We highly encourage self check-in and check-out during pandemic, meaning that you will not need to establish direct contact with our front-desk upon arrival or departure as the key to the house will be left on the door for you. Though, someone will be waiting outside of the property on the arrival day for a quick Q&A.
Payments will be made online or via bank transfer until the check-in day.
The security deposit can be paid via PayPal.

Cleaning & Housekeeping
Since we just rent the whole property, all the cleaning will be performed on the day before your arrival by a professional certified cleaning company. Only your family or individuals that will be sharing the household with you during your stay, will have access to the inside after cleaning.
Meals
All of our properties are rented on a self-catering mode. We do not provide any meals or food & beverages.
Declaration of Commitment
Drifter Beach Lodge has commited to fully comply with the set of requirements for social conduct, hygiene and cleanliness present in the “Declaration of Commitment” created by the National Tourism Office (Turismo de Portugal).

How to comply with basic precautions in order to prevent further infections in relation to COVID-19 outbreak, including the following procedures:
Constant Hand Washing frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds and/or use hand sanitizer with at least 70% alcohol, covering all surfaces of the hands and rubbing them until it gets dry.
Respiratory etiquette: coughing or sneezing into the flexed forearm and/or use a tissue, which must then be immediately thrown away. Please always wash your hands after coughing or sneezing and after blowing. Avoid touching the eyes, nose and mouth with your hands.
Social Conduct: change the frequency and form of contact between coworkers and between them and customers, avoiding (when possible) close contact, handshakes, kisses, shared jobs, face-to-face meetings and sharing of food, utensils, glasses or personal towels.

Our operation ensures:
There will always be someone available, responsible for setting in motion the protocol procedures in case of suspected infection providing the necessary assistance and contacting the national health service.
The effective disinfection of the properties whenever there are positive cases of infection and reinforcement of cleaning and disinfection whenever there are guests suspected of infection.
The storage of waste produced by reservations suspected of infection in a plastic bag that must be be properly segregated and sent to a licensed operator for a proper biological risk waste management.
The establishment ensures:
Full cleaning of the houses, surfaces and objects in private and common use like counters, light switches, hand rails, door handles and knobs, cabinet handles, kitchens and utensils, bbq areas, offices, all equipments and appliances all furnitures and bathrooms.
Wet cleaning should is preferred over dry cleaning. We will not be using nor make vacuum cleaners available during your stay.
All of our properties have:
Personal protective equipment in sufficient number for all workers.
Stock of single-use cleaning materials proportional to the house dimensions, one in the kitchen and another one for general area surfaces.
Dispensers with alcohol-based antiseptic solution and alcohol-based solution near the entry / exit doors.
Waste container with non-manual opening and plastic bag.
In every bathroom facilities we offer equipment for washing hands with liquid soap and cotton hand-towels.
Our laundry service protocol ensures:
Specific care in handling and changing bed sheets and linens, bathroom towels, as well as in the procedures of cleaning the bedrooms and bathrooms.
The removal of all bed sheets and linens, as well as carpets and bathroom towels is done slowly, without shaking, transporting it directly to the washing premises, where it will be washed professionally at 60°C.
